Building Brighter Futures In Liverpool

(Posted on 11/01/17)

kickstart2employment, a leading vocational and commercial training company, has successfully facilitated the delivery of four sector-based work academies that will enable learners living in Merseyside to advance confidently into employment and enjoy prosperous careers in the construction industry.

k2e worked in association with Liverpool Jobcentre Plus to identify suitable candidates for the four academies, which were run concurrently in the city. Forty eight candidates worked towards a CACHE Level 1 Award and twenty five participants embarked on an NOCN Level 1 Certificate, both of which advanced skills for employment, training and personal development.

A host of industry-related topics were presented throughout the duration of the courses, including Health & Safety, manual handling and waste management training. These comprehensive modules provided learners with an understanding of the skills required to gain employment in the construction sector and the opportunity to acquire a greater appreciation of the work available in the area. Candidates on all courses agreed that the content and activities were engaging, stimulating and motivating.

As well as developing key industry-related capabilities, the programmes also promoted the enhancement of CV writing skills and interview techniques, which increased the confidence and self-esteem of participants. On completion of the courses, successful candidates were awarded CSCS Cards, which are legally required if they are to work within the sector.

The tutors, John Kennedy and Mark Worpole, were delighted to achieve a 100% pass rate across all programmes. Having delivered these highly engaging training courses, kickstart2employment intends to collaborate with Liverpool Jobcentre Plus by facilitating the delivery of employability courses for 120 learners per month throughout 2017.
